Rosie Shires

Veterinary Nurse

Phoebe is a dedicated Wildlife Veterinary Nurse who first joined the Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital as a volunteer. After successfully completing her clinical nursing placement with us, she transitioned into a professional role, bringing her enthusiasm and passion to the team.

Phoebe’s academic background is rooted in conservation, having completed a Diploma of Animal Ecology at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2023, followed by her Veterinary Nursing qualification in 2025. Her training is specifically tailored to the unique needs of wildlife, ensuring our native patients receive expert, species-specific care.

While she maintains a keen interest in all Australian fauna, Phoebe is particularly passionate about marine conservation. When she isn’t at the hospital, she continues her work as a rehabilitation nurse for Australian Seabird and Turtle Rescue, focusing on the recovery and release of sea turtles and sea birds.
